GUIDED SCHOOL PROGRAMS

Yesteryear Christmas

Grade K-3

Journey back through time and experience Christmas a hundred years ago. Students will explore toys and games of yesteryear, learn different winter traditions and celebrations, and listen to a Christmas story. Due to ongoing construction, students will see how a typical mining family lived and celebrated the season with a tour of the historical Miner’s Cottage in Piper’s Park (5 min walk from the Museum). Students will make a seasonal craft item to take home and will also enjoy festive goodies to eat.

This is an in-person, in-museum program, and includes walking outdoors to reach the miner’s cottage. Please ensure that all participants are dressed for the weather. Please direct any accessibility questions to Steph at program@nanaimomuseum.ca.
