Adopt an Artifact
Artifacts are the heart of the museum because they tell the story of our community.
One of our most important jobs is to preserve and share their stories through exhibits and programming. Adopting an artifact ensures your lasting recognition as someone who values and supports the heritage of our community. Adopt an Artifact and your name will appear on a distinctive artifact label when the object is on exhibit as well as in the artifact’s record. You will receive a certificate with an image, artifact information, and story to display in your home or office.
Help us to tell new stories by Adopting an Artifact today. Give our past a future by adopting at one of the three levels: $5,000, $2,500, and $1,000. For more information and a list of available artifacts, please contact Sophia Maher at 250.753.1821 or manager@nanaimomuseum.ca.

Thank you so much to all the wonderful people and businesses that have already adopted their favourite artifact!
“I have had the opportunity to call Nanaimo my home for many years and have shared the Dairy Queen smiles with many. So when it came time for me to give back, what fell out of the local newspaper but an Adopt and Artifact brochure. It caught my eye and the decision was made. I have adopted 3 artifacts and am a major sponsor of the new museum sponsoring the coal mine exhibit. In addition, I have arranged for a legacy so that the people in Nanaimo have a facility that will always tell the story past to present for generations to come.” Ed Yewchin
