The Haunted Nanaimo Lantern Tour includes tales of unexplained phenomena, mysterious apparitions, and spooktacular stories! Join us for this outdoor walking tour of downtown to hear about the darker side of Nanaimo’s history while visiting local landmarks.
Cost: $15 per person
Age: 12 years+ recommended (mature content)
Duration: 90 minutes
What to bring:
- Comfortable walking shoes

When: This tour runs 6:30pm-8:00pm (or 5:00pm-6:30pm – check your time carefully), rain or (moon)shine on the following dates. More dates or times may be added depending on demand.

One last Haunted Nanaimo Date: THURSDAY, OCTOBER 19, 2023: 5:00PM – 6:30PM *note earlier start time* SOLD OUT!
Where: Meet at the Museum approximately 10-15 minutes in advance of the start time to ensure a prompt tour departure. The Nanaimo Museum is located at 100 Museum Way, downtown Nanaimo. Our front door is next to Serious Coffee on Commercial St.
The route includes hills and walking approximately 1.5km around downtown. The tour route is wheelchair accessible.
Masks are recommended for all guests while indoors. Service animals are welcome, but pets are not permitted on the tour.
Pre-registration is required. Due to the popularity of the Lantern Tours, tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable to other tour dates.
However, if you are feeling ill or have symptoms of COVID-19, please do not attend. In this case, we will either do our best to transfer your tickets to another date (depending on availability), or arrange a refund.
The Nanaimo Museum is a non-profit society, and all ticket proceeds go directly back into funding for programs like this one. Thank you!
Although online payment is made through PayPal, a PayPal account is not required, only a credit card or debit card. Please note that there will be no physical ticket issued. Your spot in this tour is confirmed once you have the PayPal transaction confirmation. Registration can also be made over the phone or in person.
