Wednesday, October 18 & Wednesday, October 25, 6:30pm-7:30pm

Back by popular demand! The Brother XII presentation, led by curator Aimee Greenaway, explores the history of Edward Wilson and his rise and fall as Brother XII from a spiritual teacher to high-profile court cases, scandals and conspiracy theories. His followers’ stories, including Madame Zee and heiress Mary Connally, illuminate this dark chapter in Nanaimo’s history. Stories and photos provide insight into this infamous and controversial historical figure. This year’s presentation will include new details (and questions!) about the colony’s population, gleaned from the recently released 1931 census.
