Celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day on Sunday, June 21st!
This Sunday, June 21st from 10:00am-4:00pm, we invite everyone to come to the museum to celebrate! In addition to the permanent exhibits about Snuneymuxw culture, there will be self-guided children’s activities, including a matching game about hul’q’um’inum’ animal names, yarn friendship bracelet weaving, and an I Spy that highlights the stories of Indigenous people and cultural belongings.
From 2:00pm-5:00pm at Maffeo Sutton Park there will be the annual National Indigenous Peoples’ Day celebrations hosted by the Mid Island Metis Nation – entertainment, food, and vendors! Their website is https://midislandmetis.com/eventcalendar/special-events-programs/

In recognition of National Indigenous Peoples Day Nanaimo Museum is donating proceeds from admissions between June 16th and 21st to local organization Kw’umut Lelum Foundation. We encourage you to learn more about the work they do.
