1. An Individual or Team or has been elected to Canada's Sports Hall of Fame or the British Columbia Sports Hall of Fame and Museum is not an automatic member of the Nanaimo Sports Hall of Fame.
2. Each Nomination is eligible for consideration for three induction years. Nomination may be resubmitted one year after the three-year eligibility period has passed.
3. The Selection Panel may move nominees to a category other than the one chosen below.

• Must have attained a high level of excellence in athletic competition and brought recognition or honour to Nanaimo, or whose example has brought great credit to the sport and high respect for the individual.
• The nominee must be an individual with substantial connections to Nanaimo; including without limitation have been born or trained or competed or attended school or lived in Nanaimo for a minimum of eight years.
• There must be a waiting period of three years following retirement from the sport.
• In the event of death, or with the winning of an Olympic or World Championship medal, the waiting period and other criteria may be waived.
• An individual retired for three years but still competing in Seniors or Masters is eligible for consideration.

• The category of builder shall include coaches, officials, administrators, patrons (i.e. Service Clubs), and sports medicine practitioners.
• The nominee must have had a career which has brought recognition or honour to Nanaimo, and made a significant contribution or whose example has brought great credit to the sport and high respect for the individual or group.
• The nominee must have substantial connections to Nanaimo.

• Must have attained a high level of excellence and brought honour to Nanaimo sport during the period beyond 50 years prior to the current year.
• An exception to the 50 year limit would be individuals or teams in more recently developed sports that have some "trailblazing" quality to their accomplishments
• Teams will be selected for their achievements in one year that best represents their accomplishments.

• Must have attained a high level of excellence and made a significant contribution to the enjoyment or knowledge of sport in Nanaimo through the medium of print, radio, television or any similar medium.

• Must have attained a high level of excellence and brought recognition or honour to Nanaimo sport. Nanaimo teams winning a Provincial, National, International or World championship, or reaching the ultimate level of achievement in their sport, may be eligible for consideration.
• Team members (players and coaches) are recognized as part of a team and not as an individual member.
• Teams will be selected for their achievements in one year that best represents their accomplishments, not an era.
• A team is not eligible for nomination until three (3) years following the year for which a team is nominated, except by winning an Olympic or a World championship medal, whereby the nomination is eligible for immediate consideration.

• Please fill out the application as fully as possible - missing information can delay the selection process.
• Please read the instructions and notes for each question carefully to ensure information is being entered in the correct format

Here are some pointers on what to have on hand before you start the nomination application:

• Full contact information for your nominee (or their representative) including name, current address, phone & email
• Full contact information for yourself including name, current address, phone & email
• Specific information about the nominated individual/team including dates, timelines, awards or championships and other general information about their sports career
• Supporting materials for your information - articles, photographs, certificates, etc.
• In Step 7, you will be asked to upload these supporting materials. Please ensure you already have all of your materials in digital format and ready to upload. We accept PDF, JPG, PNG or DOC formats.
• A descriptive list of each item uploaded.

• Your application will be submitted after you press the "Submit Nomination" button below. Nominators will only be contacted in the event that your nominee has been chosen by the selection panel for induction. For the 2024 year, the selection announcement will be complete by the end of January.
• You can expect a staff member to contact you within 14 business days if you have selected that you have more material to submit.
