GUIDED SCHOOL PROGRAMS
Broken Promises School Program
Grades 8-12 & 4-8
In the Broken Promises school program, students grades 8-12 and 4-8 explore the feature exhibit Broken Promises, on loan from the Nikkei National Museum and Cultural Centre. Students will participate in a semi-guided tour of the exhibit following different narrators’ stories. Then, they will take a closer look at some archival photographs from the time of the dispossession. A brief discussion about the Japanese Canadian experience in Nanaimo wraps up the 60-minute program. Program materials are tailored for the two different grade ranges.
