SUMMARY:West Coast First Nations Art Homeschool Program
DESCRIPTION:West Coast First Nations Art Program\nGrade 5-8 (ages: 10-13)\n
 Friday\, April 6th\n1:00pm - 2:30pm\nStudents will check out the coastal F
 irst Nations art forms of petroglyph\, basket weaving\, and carving. Stori
 es\, techniques and traditional artist preparation for creativity will pro
 vide a context for traditional and contemporary art. Students will handle 
 carvings from our education collection as part of a guided study of animal
  symbolism in West Coast art.\n\nThis program is suitable for children age
 d 10-13 and the cost is $5 per child. Pre-registration is required and car
 egivers must be present at all times. Please contact Steph Kveton (program
 @nanaimomuseum.ca) or call 250-753-1821 to register.\n\nPlease Note: To sh
 ow proper respect for the Snunéymuxw First Nation who have advised us and
  worked closely with us on this program\, no one under the age of 10 is ab
 le to attend West Coast First Nations Art.
