Spooktober in the Gallery

There will be no Haunted Coal Mine event this year, but all this pent-up Halloween spirit still has to go somewhere!

Between October 5 and 30, visit the Museum during open hours to experience Tales from the Vaultkeeper!

The “Vaultkeeper” was inspired by the From the Vault feature exhibit to dig up some creepy crawly treasures from Halloweens past – featuring the popular crime-scene body outline and historical murder investigation boards from the Nanaimo Mysteries exhibit (2019), ghostly videos from Trick or Truth: Haunted Nanaimo (2020), and decorations from Halloweens past (2017-2019).

As you explore the gallery, you’ll find:

  • Black Cat I-Spy
  • Murder investigation boards
  • Ghost stories
  • Links to haunting videos
  • Chilling scenes
  • And ultimately, the Vaultkeeper’s Lair!

Bring your device and maybe a pair of headphones for the videos, and your eagle eyes to spot the 13 black cats lurking in the exhibits.

Tales from the Vaultkeeper is included in museum admission and is fun for all ages. No pre-registration is required.

Masks are mandatory for all museum guests age 12+ and are recommended for younger guests.

Content warning: the murder investigation boards contain stories of violence and death. The ghostly videos contain frightening scenes, which may be distressing to some guests.
