DESCRIPTION:Call for Nominations: Nanaimo Museum Sports Hall of Fame 2024 I
 nductees\nNanaimo – The Nanaimo Museum is accepting applications for ind
 uction into the Nanaimo Sports Hall of Fame.  The Sports Hall of Fame is 
 a tribute to outstanding Nanaimo athletes and supporters from the past and
  present.  Past inductees include Michelle Stilwell\, Harry Manson and th
 e 1956 Timbermen team. Nominations for the 2024 induction year must be sub
 mitted by December 15\, 2023.\n\nThere have been 45 inductees in the Nanai
 mo Sports Hall of Fame since its inception in 2008\, across five categorie
 s:  Athlete\, Builder\, Media\, Trailblazer (formerly Pioneer)\, and Team
 .  The success of the Hall of Fame relies on community members to nominat
 e individuals and teams. Anyone can submit a nomination for consideration\
 , except the Sports Hall of Fame committee\, selection panel and museum st
 aff.  Nominations can be submitted on the website at https://nanaimomuseu
 m.ca/exhibits-collections/sports-hall-of-fame/ via the online nomination p
 ortal.\n\nThe Nanaimo Museum and Sports Hall of Fame committee encourages 
 members of the community to review the guidelines online and make nominati
 ons.  “A nomination is a great start to honouring the significant contr
 ibutions made by a friend\, relative or someone you admire in the sporting
  community\,” says Sophia Maher\, Nanaimo Museum General Manager.  “T
 heir accomplishments often represent nationally recognized achievement in 
 all levels of sport or strong contributions to community athletics in Nana
 imo.” Applications are intended to be barrier-free\, so please contact t
 he museum if you require assistance.\n\nThe 2024 presentation will be made
  at the Nanaimo Sport Achievement Awards happening February 24th\, 2023. T
 he Nanaimo Sport Achievement Awards were established in 2006 and the award
 s event recognizes those within the sport community who\, during the cours
 e of the year\, have made a significant contribution to the community in w
 hich he or she lives. Information about the awards can be found at www.nan
 aimosportachievementawards.com.\n\nThe Nanaimo Sports Hall of Fame is loca
 ted in the lobby of the museum and the public can visit free of charge dur
 ing regular hours of operation\, Tuesday to Saturday 10am-4pm. The exhibit
  includes artifacts\, inductee wall and images spanning a century of sport
