The Haunted Nanaimo Lantern Tour will thrill you with tales of unexplained phenomena, a bloody apparition and an uncanny spiritualist while visiting some of Nanaimo’s iconic historic landmarks. On select evenings in October, join us for this mostly outdoor walking tour of downtown to hear about some of the ghostly encounters experienced by locals through Nanaimo’s history. A visit to the museum gallery and the historic Bastion is included.
What to bring:

Age: 12 + recommended (graphic violence and death)
Duration: 90 minutes
This tour runs 6:30pm-8:00pm, rain or (moon)shine.
Meet at the Museum approximately 10-15 minutes in advance of the start time to ensure a prompt tour departure. The Museum is located at 100 Museum Way, downtown Nanaimo. Our front door is next to Serious Coffee on Commercial St.
The route includes hills and walking approximately 1.5km around downtown. This tour includes a visit inside the Bastion, which is not accessible for those who use a wheelchair or who have limited mobility. The rest of the tour route is wheelchair accessible. Details of this tour are subject to change according to Provincial Health Orders.
This tour begins and ends indoors. Proof of vaccination and a mask on hand for all guests ages 12 and up is required for this event. Masks are strongly recommended for younger guests.
Pre-registration is required. Due to the popularity of Lantern Tours, tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable to other tour dates.
However, if you are feeling ill or have symptoms of COVID-19, please do not attend. In this case, we will either do our best to transfer your tickets to another date (depending on availability), or arrange a refund.
The Nanaimo Museum is a non-profit society, and all ticket proceeds go directly back into funding for programs like this one. Thank you!
Although online payment is made through PayPal, a PayPal account is not required, only a credit card or debit card. Please note that there will be no physical ticket issued. Your spot on this tour is confirmed once you have the PayPal transaction confirmation. Registration can also be made over the phone or in person.
