On Sat urday\, September 12 from 12:30-3:30pm\, Joy will lead participants in cre ating their own beaded Orange Shirt pin.\nJoy will present an introduction to the creation of Orange Shirt Day and then teach participants basic sin gle-needle techniques needed for this project. Two patterns will be availa ble\, depending on participant skill level. Participants can expect to com plete or mostly complete their pin by the end of the workshop\, and will l eave with the skills and materials to finish their project at home.\nOrang e Shirt Day\, also known as the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation\ , is observed annually on September 30th in Canada. Orange shirts are worn throughout the year during events to honour all Indigenous children.\nAll materials will be provided. No experience necessary.\nAges: 15+\nTickets: $50 per person\, and pre-registration is required. Tickets are non-refund able and non-transferable to other dates or programs. A minimum of 10 gues ts is required for this program to proceed.\n \;\nJoy Bremner\, Métis Knowledge Keeper / Elder\n\n\nJoy was born in Prince Albert\, Saskatchewa n\, both of her parents Métis. The Métis Culture has been with her throu ghout her life\, as well as many First Nations friends while living across Manitoba\, Saskatchewan\, Alberta\, the Yukon and then settling on Vancou ver Island.\n\nMentored by numerous Métis Old Ones (Elders) within many c ommunities\, Joy has shared her Métis cultural knowledge at Gatherings\, workshops\, and educational institutes with Métis youth and the general p ublic. Joy practices a wide range of activities\, including beading\, porc upine quill work\, moose hair tufting\, leather-work\, traditional foods\, medicines\, weaving\, and the list goes on.\n\n \;\nIMPORTANT PAYMENT INFORMATION:\nAlthough online payment is made through PayPal\, a PayPal a ccount is not required\, only a credit card or debit card.
