On Saturday\, September 12 from 12:30-3:30pm\, Joy will lead participants in creating their own beaded Orange Shirt pin.\nJoy will pre sent an introduction to the creation of Orange Shirt Day and then teach pa rticipants basic single-needle techniques needed for this project. Two pat terns will be available\, depending on participant skill level. Participan ts can expect to complete or mostly complete their pin by the end of the w orkshop\, and will leave with the skills and materials to finish their pro ject at home.\nOrange Shirt Day\, also known as the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation\, is observed annually on September 30th in Canada. Or ange shirts are worn throughout the year during events to honour all Indig enous children.\nAll materials will be provided. No experience necessary. This workshop is open to everyone\; it is not restricted to participants o f Métis heritage.\nAges: 15+\nTickets: $50 per person\, and pre-registrat ion is required. Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable to other dates or programs. A minimum of 10 guests is required for this program to proceed.\n \;\nJoy Bremner\, Métis Knowledge Keeper / Elder\n\n\nJoy was born in Prince Albert\, Saskatchewan\, both of her parents Métis. The Métis Culture has been with her throughout her life\, as well as many Fi rst Nations friends while living across Manitoba\, Saskatchewan\, Alberta\ , the Yukon and then settling on Vancouver Island.\n\nMentored by numerous Métis Old Ones (Elders) within many communities\, Joy has shared her Mé tis cultural knowledge at Gatherings\, workshops\, and educational institu tes with Métis youth and the general public. Joy practices a wide range o f activities\, including beading\, porcupine quill work\, moose hair tufti ng\, leather-work\, traditional foods\, medicines\, weaving\, and the list goes on.\n\n \;\nIMPORTANT PAYMENT INFORMATION:\nAlthough online paym ent is made through PayPal\, a PayPal account is not required\, only a cre dit card or debit card.
