On Saturday\, November 7 from 12:30-3:30pm\, Joy will lead par ticipants in creating their own beaded Poppy pin.\n\nParticipants will lea rn basic basic beading skills needed for this project. Participants can ex pect to complete their pin by the end of the workshop or leave with the sk ills and materials to finish their project at home.\n\nThese beaded poppie s are a way of paying tribute to Indigenous veterans in an act of recognit ion\, remembrance\, gratitude\, and respect of all veterans. Indigenous Ve terans’ Day is observed on November 8th each year across Canada.\nAll ma terials will be provided. No experience necessary. This workshop is open t o everyone\; it is not restricted to participants of Métis heritage.\nAge s: 15+\nTickets: $50 per person\, and pre-registration is required. Ticket s are non-refundable and non-transferable to other dates or programs. A mi nimum of 10 guests is required for this program to proceed.\n \;\nJoy Bremner\, Métis Knowledge Keeper / Elder\n\n\nJoy was born in Prince Albe rt\, Saskatchewan\, both of her parents Métis. The Métis Culture has bee n with her throughout her life\, as well as many First Nations friends whi le living across Manitoba\, Saskatchewan\, Alberta\, the Yukon and then se ttling on Vancouver Island.\n\nMentored by numerous Métis Old Ones (Elder s) within many communities\, Joy has shared her Métis cultural knowledge at Gatherings\, workshops\, and educational institutes with Métis youth a nd the general public. Joy practices a wide range of activities\, includin g beading\, porcupine quill work\, moose hair tufting\, leather-work\, tra ditional foods\, medicines\, weaving\, and the list goes on.\n\n \;\nI MPORTANT PAYMENT INFORMATION:\nAlthough online payment is made through Pay Pal\, a PayPal account is not required\, only a credit card or debit card.
