The Nanaimo Museum is hiring summer staff! 

Come and join a great team as you learn to develop your skills in a heritage and tourism environment. The Museum intends to hire one (1) summer youth staff in each of the four (4) positions below, subject to funding approval and staffing requirements. Start and end dates may vary based on funding approval and other factors. See the PDF below for the detailed job postings.

  • Marketing & Social Media Assistant – Student position

Please review the candidate eligibility criteria below before applying. Positions are funded by Canada Summer Jobs (Youth positions) and Young Canada Works (Student positions). Each organization has slightly different candidate requirements, restricting which candidates we can consider for these positions.

Candidate Eligibility criteria

Canada Summer Jobs youth positions (Retail & Guest Services Assistant and Heritage Interpreter)

Youth candidates must:

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment term;  
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and  
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations). 

Young Canada Works student positions (Heritage Interpreter and Marketing & Social Media Assistant)

Student candidates must:

  • Be available for the full term of employment,  
  • Be a Canadian citizen, or a permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada,  
  • Be a current and returning student,  
  • Be between the ages of 16 and 30, and 
  • Have no other full-time job within the employment term.
