Yesteryear Christmas
(Grade K to 3) November 22 to December 17, 2010
Only available in the museum.
Join us on a journey back through time and experience Christmas a hundred years ago. During a visit to the Miner's Cottage, students will explore toys and games of yesteryear, learn different traditions, and listen to a Christmas story. Students will also make a seasonal craft to take home and enjoy festive goodies.
Chinese New Year
(Grade 2/3) January 24 to February 18, 2011
Only available in the museum.
Learn why the Chinese settled in Nanaimo, and where they lived and worked. Students will observe and handle Chinese artifacts and objects, and play a traditional game. Students will make a Lion Dance Mask and discover the symbolism of the New Year's celebration and Lion Dance.
